This year we are celebrating 24 years of owning the Polish Lowland Sheepdog. We are the longest established Polish Lowland Sheepdog kennel still actively showing and breeding, having had our first PON in 1986. It's amazing to think that 23 years ago this summer, I was showing Fant z Kordegardy in Megsflocks of Dorianblue and Esther z Krainy Smutkow in Import Register classes! We have owned/bred International, Polish, American, South African and UK champions.
We don't go chasing up and down the country to every show, nor do we breed many Polish Lowland Sheepdog puppies, but we do produce the occassional litter of puppies - all bred for temperament, type and soundness.
Our Polish Lowland Sheepdogs (we really prefer to call them PONs!) are pets first and foremost and show dogs later, and then only if they really enjoy it. We are determined that we want to maintain good Polish type and win or loose, that is always our aim. That is why I have chosen to import a wide base of bloodlines to work with and my grateful thanks go to those breeders - Malgorzata Supronowicz (Sasquehanna), Barbara Larska (z Gangu Dlugich) and Janusz Zerebcki (z Wielgowa) - who have sent me such beautiful Polish Lowland Sheepdogs.
At the World Show in Poznan, October 2006, the Polish Kennel Club and PON Klub, Poland, presented me with a leadership award in appreciation for my dedication to the PON in the UK. I was also given life membership of the Polish Kennel Club and thank them for such an honour.
For me a PON should be a PON, that's what I want. I am as happy to show other people's breeding as my own. It is important that we keep the Polish Lowland Sheepdog 'Polish'. I try to breed to the Polish standard and therefore most of my dogs are strong, robust, compact, up to size, with typical, free movement and correct coats.
